Aromatherapy and essential oils

"How do I use essential oils?" - a question by Janet E., Leeds

There are many, extremely varied applications for essential oils. However, it must be borne in mind when using certain oils that side effects could arise in use and that for a number of oils, certain contraindications for use exist (e.g. not during pregnancy) which must be observed without fail. When treating children, half the adult number of drops should be used. The main methods of application are in oil diffusers and external application to the skin (oil rubs, massage). Vapourising oil in a diffuser is the easiest and most popular way of using essential oils. For this, several drops of oil are placed in the water-filled bowl of the lamp and a candle is lit underneath it. The flame warms the water and in so doing the liquid evaporates; the scent is dispersed throughout the room.

Whole body massages and massages with essential oils are probably the most pleasant form of aromatherapy and give you the chance to be really pampered. The wonderful scent and the physical activity of massage encourage all-round relaxation and allow the healing action of the essential oils to take effect. In addition, this procedure is kind to the skin and so acts as a beauty aid. Gentle music playing in the background can be enormously beneficial, as long as it appeals.

Comments:
I am an aromatherapist and to slove this question in our area we have started parties which have gone down well we not only sell oils but give advise about using and blending them and I was shocked at how little people seemed to know about this wonderful way of helping to make you feel better emotional and health wise.
